The givers of joy!
After our second attempt having gotten the wrong car park, we found everyone at the Belle vue car park in the Great plantation, Liverton. Our hares, No Butt and Mouthful were raring to go!
They had brought along Whizz Kid, actually a man, always nice to have visitors.
I called the circle at 1100 and preceded to let the gathered hashers a little fact about 1224, our run number.
Mathematically, it’s a Harshad number (also called a Niven number). That means it’s divisible by the sum of its digits.The digits of 1224 add up to 1 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 9.
And 1224 ÷ 9 = 136, a whole number.
So 1224 is “Harshad” in base 10 — the Sanskrit word Harshad means “giver of joy.” So that works nicely into our trail for today, which didn’t disappoint.
Off, we went, not waiting for Tampa who pulled up late, along the road to the first check, WizKid was checking it out. I thought we could only really go one way so I followed. Trojan and Gripper were debating whether or not to do the longs or the shorts, meanwhile, we were both correct and the footpath lead along the fields that head up towards Look weep Farm.
We went through a lovely twisty, metalled track uphill as promised by the hares, there was myself WizKid and Jet ski all quite a quick lick.
As we came into old Liverton we were greeted by mouthful with a bag full of sweets. This was sweet soap number one by this time the rain had started to fall. It was only a little shower so it wasn’t anything too bad. We waited a little while with no sign of the shorts, Gripper, Trojan and dog had caught up so we went up into Rora woods.
I love this place, pine trees winding tracks, nice big steep climbs and loads of checks to slow everybody down. I had decided before the hash that I was gonna do maybe one long and a couple of shorts but I ended up actually doing all of the lawns but will come to that again in a minute.
So we made our way through the woods with some stunning views below realising actually how high we’ve actually climbed and then it was down.
Out from the woods we followed the road towards Halford Cross and then again through the fields towards Liverton and sweetie stop No2.
After this we headed back towards Great plantation I thought we won’t be that much longer and into the plantation we went through the trees through again twisty, tiny, tight, soft tracks that was just the best kind of hashing.
After the miriade of checks, we finally found the On home all knackered and me done 6.4 miles but feeling really good.
We still have a hare for next week and Tight and myself can’t make it. Please can some one volunteer?
