Cowley Bridge - Groucho and Bean Bag - 22nd July 2018

A stranger returns... our GM was back to lay the trail today, helped by his much better half, Bean Bag.  We grouped together in the lay-by outside of the Steiner School, already sweating as the Sunday morning Range Rovers dropped off their weekly recycling.  Groucho explained that the first mark was a bit of a miss, because he managed to spill the floor when he tripped over the dog!

We headed away towards Cowley Bridge, and then up through the houses to a play park.  It looked like there was no exit, but there was, discovered by Spocky, and he disappeared into the bushes with Child Catcher (making the most of Bull bait's absence!).  Across the very dry fields which Groucho explained that he uses for dogging, sorry, dog walking.  This was a new bit of Exeter to me, and it seemed everyone else on the trail.  Lots of shouts of short cutting were heard, but we were just following the front runners.

Then we dropped down on the Belle Vue Road, which took us towards Duryard halls of residence and the first regroup.  The longs had a loop round the student accommodation, before heading up the old track towards the sports fields.  The sweetie stop was there, photo below, and where I was caught 'using technology' to see where X-bitz was spending her week on the boat!

Another long looped us round the back sports fields, with my office building in view - how nice it is to be at work on a Sunday!  Rejoining the short trail, it was then all down hill to the main road, and oh home.

Fines went to Tampa (arriving late), me (technology) and multiple fines to the Sheriff for short-cutting, and forgetting the book.  There were also murmurings around the lack of hares wearing hare t-shirts, and rumors about where those t-shirts may be!

I'm not around now until 12 August, so please can someone take a photo each week, write a few words, and email it to hashwords@cityofexeterh3.org.uk.

I also need hares for September please!

2nd - English Muffin, Cup Cake and Baby Bear - venue required
9th - hare required
16th - Blobby - venue required
23rd - hare required
30th - hare required

Next week, we are at Blackberry Camp (map is here; SY188924) - hared by Paperwork and Sorepoint.
The following week we're welcoming the Romans on the Isca H3 Awayday, hashing from Estuary View on Woodbury Common (map) (Tampa)
And on 12th August, we're meeting at King George V playing fields off in Exeter. Note: its the car park that is accessed via Countess Wear Road NOT the main one which is off Topsham Road.  Take School Lane off Topsham Road - see here for a map
