#1071 East Hill Strips - Howlin' Wilf - 2 October 2022

Howlin' Wilf owned up to laying this week's hash in a full raincoat and hat, but it all dried up nicely for the trail at 11. The second trail in a month from East Hill Strips, but I was none the wiser this time round.  10 of us headed off down the track at around 11.15  after a long discussion about the problem of finding hares for trails (we still need hares for the rest of the year!), little did we know that Tampa arrived even later but could find the marks. See the note he left on Wide's car below.

Perhaps he lost the trail in the winding we did around the woods in the first 10 mins or so? But there were lots of slippery branches and step climbs up and down. It was a glorious morning with some warmth still left in the sun, speckling through the trees.

Somehow Wide (who was walking due to an injury) got lost towards the end, apparently he thought it was longer...

Next week we're joining up with The Celebration of Life event for Rambo from 3- 6pm at Newton Abbot Recreational Trust.  Due to licensing laws the venue requires a guest list to be provided 2 days before the event.   Therefore, please email zootonon@gmail.com if you will be attending.

There will be half an hour to get yourself a drink and seat and at 3.30 we will have Julie Chudleigh our celebrant (who also knows Doris/Hilary), talk to us about Stewart/Rambo’s life as well as a some words from a fellow hasher.

Following this there will be plenty of time to look at the photos and share memories with one another. Michael, Stewart’s brother is especially looking forward to meeting some of the people Rambo climbed and did various events with.
We have the room until 6pm and at that time Devon Lunatics Hash have an informal walk of less than a mile to a local hostelry which serves food and drink and all are welcome to join them.
Devon Lunatics Hash House Harriers quote “As you are most likely aware, Rambo’s Celebration of Life event is to be held on Sunday 9th October from 3 - 6pm at Newton Abbot Recreational Trust. This date is also that of the October full moon. Many of you will also know that Rambo was founder of the original Devon Full Moon H3 and so to honour his memory we will not have a regular hash, but will take a walk from the above venue at 6pm to ‘somewhere’ for food and then on to ‘somewhere else’.”
