#1090 A bridge over the M5 near Exminster - Bollards - 5 Feb 2023

All that effort into making sure that everyone knew where this week's slightly obscure location was, was wasted on Spocky, who saw the photo and thought he knew where he was going. As it turns out, there is more than one bridge over the M5...

Bollards had laid for us the first hash trail up on the new Ridge Top Park above the Matford housing development.  Not a particularly long trail but undulating to say the least (which didn't help my cough, which hopefully isn't TB as Howlin'Wilf suggested).

We started off along the lane back towards Matford, before heading off right along a footpath, and then confusingly multiple times around and up and down a field. Bollards had to change her lay after fences were moved apparently. We managed to vacate the field just as a pack of curious and noisy cows moved over to us.

Then from the bottom to the top again following the boundary of the new houses to some carvings and signs of local interest.

Then back towards the lane and the transmitter site for a long-short loop, before heading further along a track and another long-short (this time a haha across the A30 bridge) with the shorts continuing along the footpath alongside the carriageway.

There we were greeted by a fish hook, where most of the walking pack were happy to wait for the hare to catch up! What is the world coming too??!! Although Mad Max suggested that we just nominate Tight to be the back marker, so everyone could slap her hand. In the end the longs caught up and did the checking, with Speedy sent the way it clearly wasn't!

Then the sweetie stop, with Caramel Snackajacks! I never thought they'd be so popular! Another long short, and a climb back up to the up of the hill to the viewpoint before the On Home.

Spocky got a down down for going to the wrong bridge (and then tring to blame Xbitz), but Howlin' was in close second for telling everyone he wasn't coming (but turning up), and for parking  about 1/2 mile further down the road because he didn't want to park on the bridge "in case there was an earth quake"??!!

Next week we're in Dawlish, for a trail paid by Wide Receiver.
