I heard “trail of the year”, “they don’t get any better than that”, “ I’m glad they’re not all this good” banded around after today’s trail!!
6 hasher and the hare raced off from the main car park in Chudleigh. Hansel was a nice addition to the regular, elite hashers this week.
They made there way through the many checks that led the way towards Woodway st.
The first of 3 long/short split split the pack but little did the longs know it was only a short Ha ha and they soon joined the trail. Over the A38 and onto a back check. Paperwork guessed it right but followed everyone else who were on the false trail.
On we went down the hill unnamed lane towards the river teign. Another L/S halfway down saw the pack split again. This long was a longer ha ha, down a steep public footpack. Paperwork hid at the ha ha just to make sure Howling wilf and Happy snapper got the whole experience. Then they all made their way back up the incline to the main trail.
As we meandered our way down through the dappled lane, the last of the L/S splits had the longs go almost to the river while the shorts found another back check. There was some confusion as to what to do, but it was clear once they reached the edge of a bank, they had to go down!!
As Tight made her way down with Rosie dog helping, Sorepoint was a little more hesitant. Hansel and myself helped her down by using our feet as stoppers for her.
We gathered to watch the sight but it didn’t last long and we were in splitting distance of the SS.
A quick dip in the river for Wide before we once again checked through the woods, avoiding the heat from the sun, it was much welcomed.
We climbed up through the woods, the FRB finding their way to the meadows which looked beautiful.
Nearly home. Just one more hill. Up Parrs lane towards the OH and beer and crisps in the car park.
Well done Wide.
Next weeks trails is from obelisk car park, Mamhead. Hares Tampa and Runner bean.
