#1253 Bristol trail - Speedy and Isaac - 5 April 2016

Speedy's clues led us to Steam, via the local train to Clifton Down from Temple Meads. Shame it was shut!! Then it was a trail, and after a few miles, lots of pubs!!
Just don't mention the trains back to Exeter!

From Wide...

Once again another fantastic away day, thank you Speedy and Issac for your efforts, not just in laying the trail but organising everyone and sorting the pub stops. You also managed to keep it on theme for the weekend and putting on an Easter egg hunt on for @Pearl at The Robin Hood!
Despite being from the back waters of Devon everyone made it to the hash on time in the big smoke. Stix dished out the multi coloured spirits in dubious looking bottles on train number 2 up to our start from Steam, which was closed, the builders very kindly let yours truly in for a wee.
We wound our way through Clifton, passed the millionaires row, that’s what it should be called because those house are spectacular. The longs split and ran across the suspension bridge, which as always had great views down the gorge and further on.
More winding, on passed the Bristol zoo site which looked really sad and we soon came upon our first pub. We sat in the beer garden and I’m sure even the runners now gave up and walked to pub 2, I can’t remember the name but there was a train track inside which drew a lot of attention.
Then the Robin Hood which was lovely sitting inside in the sun.
And on to to our last pub for lunch which was lovely, we had a room to ourselves and lovely long table reminiscent of a beer hall.
although most went their separate ways from here there was still fun and games with the cancelled/late trains to get back home.
Thanks everyone for a great day, where to next????!!!!!!!!
