#1038 Dawlish - The D's - 13th February 2022

A wet trail, but the best the D's had laid in years! I had my 'hair' hat on,  and that only comes out when it's chucking it down. We met in the car park on Coronation Avenue, all wrapped up in our water proofs. Good to see the return of Hotlips and Zoot after COVID, and Rambo after skiing. After a request for no more than a 3.5 mile trail, 3D promised us 3.6 miles!

It started off around houses of Oakland's for the long, then across Oakland's Park, where Bollards nearly slipped down a bank when they was noone to catch her, and a long loop around a large field! Marks were rather intermittent... Those laid yesterday were washed out perhaps. Then down onto the A379, with a long pointing straight across onto the coast path that runs behind the Smuggler's. Given that we'd had a couple of problems finding marks so far, it didn't suprise us that we saw very little along that path. But we were only supposed to go past way along it before a Ha Ha, but we ended up climbing the almighty hill on the other side and heading back along the road past the pub. We probably agreed an extra mile there!! Then onto Lea Mount for the sweetie stop and fantastic shortcake hearts!

While some of that pack headed back for a cup of tea (allegedly) the rest of us on the second half (shorter half!) of the trail took off towards the town centre, but we kept most of the height, working our way around the houses and past West Cliff School before returning our way back up to Coronation Avenue.

It was still raining so we heard back to the D's for our snacks and beers and strides into their kitchen. Hopefully we didn't leave to much of a mess!

Next week we're at Shillingford St George Village Hall. We've got the hall booked until 3pm. Please bring something to eat and drink and share! MAP
