#1047 Kennford - Stix 'n' Speedy - 17 April 2022

Words by Speedy

Today’s trail was run number 1046 laid by Stix and I, laid from the seven stars in Kenford. It was a double special today because it was both the Easter hash and Stix's 50th birthday run. We were supposed to have a long short split at the start however when we where laying it Stix sent me off to lay the short and then realised we couldn’t lay the long because the footpath was closed due to there being an unstable building.

Stix instead had a genius idea and decided to send us all down the stream (so we all got wet) which lead to a footpath which lead to the A38 which we briefly ran along before climbing the hill and getting to the long-short split. The longs where supposed to be sent across the field and looped back down into the stream, however apparently they ended back at the pub somehow.

Everyone else continued along a long lane where there where 2 long short splits both longs had HAHAs on them. Instead of a Sweet stop we instead had a beer stop (with the usual has drinks) with egg hunt in a small area of woodland, we made some eggselent jokes! If you will pardon the pun.

We then ran along a hilly lane which got us to the Lay Arms, near the church where we had the final long short split. On the long I put in a fishhook for 5.7 people which enevitably confused the longs.

Finally we enjoyed some pizza and we finally named Peter 'long time coming' (not to be confused with long time cumming)

Remember to rate the trail https://cityofexeterhhh.blogspot.com/p/rate-hash_3.html?m=1

Next week we're at Core Copse, best Ottery At Mary for a trail by Howling Wilf and Riverdance

#1046 Exmouth - Wobbly & Oddbitz - 10 April 2022

A good turnout today for Wobblybitz and Oddbitz's trail, although Oddbitz knows his place and highlighted that he was just assistant hare.  Great to see Shortie & Bigfoot, and SMT, Spit Ball & Henry the Turd making a return. And Zoot back from her (ski) injury.
After Wobbly told us about the trail, Oddbitz said there was a special mark. He crouched down to mark it on the floor, and we thought he was never going to get back up! Anyway it was an eye, to watch out for something or other.
The trail took us initially to the Strand, past The Heavitree, and what XBitz described as a tour of all her ex's houses!
We ended up on Salterton Lane before heading down Long Lane (and it was quite long) with a long short taking the shorts down Lime Kiln Lane, with everyone soon ending up on the Maer.
It looked like Oddbitz had organised a gazebo and BBQ at the picnic area, but not this time (that's saved fire the summer!). Instead the trail took us behind the cricket club, where I found Tampa coming the other way (having arrived late, again). Then along the seafront to a sweetie stop near the Pavillion.
After some hippos, babies and worms, the trail continued after a long loop along the esplanade, around the marina, and soon home.
I tried to get Spocky a down down for sitting down on the hash (on the exercise cycle at the sweetie stop) but unfortunately it came back to me to drink I've from the portable toilet that I bought!!!
On on to next week (Easter Sunday and my birthday trail) when we're at the Seven Stars at Kennford
https://maps.app.goo.gl/E48hn4xiqXhadtC16. Parking is around the houses opposite the pub, with their famous pizzas afterwards. Please let me know by Wednesday what you would like (email alastair.hibbins@gmail.com, or WhatsApp or Facebook). #1045 Joneys Cross - Boots not Spacky - 3 April 2022

Today's trail was the best one that Spooky has laid this year, although he did look a bit like Boots. And just like Boots often does, Spocky left us a note of instructions from Boots about the trail. After welcoming our visitors and welcoming back Bloody Mary,  Spocky then read out the instructions about his own trail because Boots was nowhere to be seen. It was all very confusing.
We quickly came across the first Spacky Check, which seemed a bit pointless since Spocky was the hare. Spacky was moaning alot about checking on his own trail.  There were lots of pricks on the trail today, and much screeching coming from Double D. Bloody Mary had a great fall in the mud, just a shame we didn't capture it on camera. After what seemed a very long loop for the longs, we were in the middle of a hedge for the sweetie stop.
Then a very narrow girder across a gulley, which Bollards attempted in doggy style fashion (hence the down down) and we seemed to be homeward bound.
Next week we're at at Imperial Road car park in Exmouth. Please bring money for parking (£3).

As always, please don't forget to vote for Sprooky's hash, https://cityofexeterhhh.blogspot.com/p/rate-hash_3.html?m=1

#1044 Haldon Belvedere - Wide Receiver - 27 March 2022

First trail of the year in shorts for me and I was still too hot!  And it was Mother's Day of course, and 'the clock is wrong in the car' day, and nearly the 2nd anniversary of the first lockdown! Anyway fanastic to be out and about enjoying the countryside on a warm early spring day .

The trail took us on twists and turns around Haldon, but definitely not to to castle itself, just to annoy Spocky and XBitz (their wedding venue). The rhodedendrums looked very pretty and romantic, but XBitz could be bothered to take a look.

I needed a wee quite early on, and could hear the 'slap slap' of Speedy running down the hill, so thought no need to hide particularly well. Unfortunately he was running with Happy Snapper!!

There was a tunnel that we were 'encouraged' to climb through just before the regroup. Speedy was the only one who went through it and soaked up the honour as we gathered round.  Except he didn't, and had just put mud on his knees. He was rewarded appropriately in the circle. Memories of No. 2 were also shared during the regroup. She sadly passed away this week.

A great trail from Wide, made even better by the warmth and sunshine.

Next week we're at Joneys Cross for Boots' trail, if he bothers to turn up!!!!
