Today's trail was always going to be a wet one, coinciding with the moving-in day for the university students before term starts tomorrow. Brillo had come up from the Muff to lay most of the trail yesterday. He'd used purple chalk, and I don't think I saw a single mark, which isn't a suprise given the down pours. But there was some flour around, which he had laid this morning.
Brillo had bought three bottles of beer and was slurping on the first as we gathered under the tent outside of the Imperial. Apparently Evie travelling to to lay yesterday, he told us that he's seen lots of cockalls around yesterday on the beaches enjoying the sun (he meant grockles!)
The trail headed down towards the zebra crossing, following his instructions at the circle, but then we couldn't find a mark. Someone remembered that he'd said turn left, so we headed back up pad the side of the college. Still couldn't find any marks, so I thought it might be a good idea to go back to the car and get a piece of chalk, which I gave to Wide, and he was going to mark out the front of the trail to help everyone together. But crossing New North Road, we picked up marks. So with Wide's help, we ended up at the Squash club, after adding in an extra long short split (that only Paperwork did).
Turns out that we'd just run the last part of the trail backwards! No sign of Brillo at the Squash club, and with it still raining, a beer was in order. And very nice it was indeed!! Meanwhile Wide went out and laid the next part of the trail, which picked up some of the trail that Brillo had laid.
So we contributed going backwards around the trail, down past the prison, with another long short added, before returning home.
By now it had stopped raining, and we gathered and chatted under the trees, taking about nudist beaches amongst other things, before either going on-in , or returning home.
On On to next week's task, at St Katherine's Priory (near Mincinglake) for Groucho's 80th birthday celebrations. Please bring your own beer, and something edible to share!
