Bradninch - Child Catcher and Twin Peaks - 28th July 2019

This week was run number 945

  • It was Stingrays 14th Birthday!
  • Woodpecker, Woody, kanga and Don’t Panic where all late
  • Speedy tried out his new Donald Trump handshake
  • Fishhooks where 7, we had to use 2 fingers to count
  • We took a steep up hill turn before reaching the regroup
  • There was a long short where the longs where treated to a further increase in gradient
  • Paperwork convinced Rocky that there was an electric fence, he touched to find that it wasn’t electric
  • We reached the peak and sped down hill at top speed until we reached the sweat (sweety?) stop
  • We hand a conversation about animals biting and how human bites are most likely to be infectious, Stix said “that can’t be true because bollards bite me all of the time” (entry for quote of the year!)
  • We came to the final regroup where we were challenged to come up with as many poultry related names as possible due to the names of the houses (Cockwell Meadow, Paxo House...)
  • We came back into the town of Broadclyst (I think you'll find its Bradninch)
  • Cup Cake and English Muffin declared it was a year ago to the minute that they got married!
  • Twin peaks dished out her fines, which included Rocky (and Speedy I think) for constantly asking how many it was on the fishhooks. And also the Latecomers.

Thanks to Bullbait and Childcatcher for welcoming us to their house and offering beer and food!

Next week we're near (but not in) Exminster. If the weather is fine, please bring a picnic and we're go back to Stix and Bollards' for lunch and beer (home brew!) in the sun. I'll communicate plans via the blog/email/facebook. The hash starts from the Days Pottles Lane bridge over the A38. Map is here  and below - Grid Ref SX927876. This is best accessed via the A379. The map below shows the route: head for the Devon Hotel roundabout on the edge of Mrash Barton, and drive towards the M5. The A379 takes you over the A30, and then past Peamore Farm, and just before the brow of the hill (Frank Tuckers / Texaco Garage), turn left (signposted 'Little Silver'). Follow the lane for 1/2 mile. You can also arrive via Exminster village.

Texaco garage, not Esso!!

Cheriton Bishop - Woody - 14th July 2019

Words this written by Speedy and Rocky.

This week we hashed from Cherrington Bishop on the bridge over the A30 laid by woody.
  • The hare planned very hot weather
  • Run number 943
  • Stingray cleverly decided that there where 2 ways that it could be to get off the bridge.
  • We accidentally ran through the primary school
  • We completed a loop before crossing over the bridge where we started
  • Stingray took his top off
  • Rocky and stingray cooled off in someone’s sprinkler
  • We ran through another field before reaching the sweet stop
  • Woof Woof said that she wanted 4 children, because if there is 3 then there is always an odd one out, Spocky suggested that to achieve 4 children she should go to Woodpeckers pool, like X-bits did.
  • Spocky kicked a dog (accidentally)
  • The longs ran up a hill before finding a very funny joke (HAHA)
  • In the circle fines were awarded to
    • Spocky the usual
    • Various for sitting down
    • English Muffin and Baby Bare's brand new baby was named Pit Stop becuause tey had to take a pit stop to change a nappy.
  • Child Catcher started a water fight with Spocky, and the kids joined in.
Next week we're at Stoke Canon Jubilee Hall, EX5 4AP (map).

Ilford (Bitz's Manor) - Spockybitz - 7th July 2019

As we drove in, we met a road block on the lane. What are these nutters doing- then we realised it was Twin Peaks and Howlin' Wilf, who were lost.  For once, I was the only who knew where the Bitz's lived.

After Bullbait and Childcatcher had some dubious conversation about meat in baps, Spocky announced that the trail wasn't very long, and he'd only decided this morning which direction it was going to go in.  We headed down the lane and into a field.  We ran round the field. Then we ran round another field. And ran around that same field again.  It was hot!  Thinking that all these fields look the same, we may or may not have run around one of the fields a third time.  There were plenty of long-short splits, and these may have taken us around a field.  In the second half, we crossed the lane and around what was definitely a different field.  We had a sweetie stop in the corner, before heading into the neighbouring field and running around it.  The on home took us past a barn and back along the lane. No further fields!

Spocky pulled out all the stops for the BBQ in his field garden, with  a gazebo and bouncy castle.  Twin Peaks talked about golden showers and there were plenty of jokes about Spocky's erection.

Fines were a bit sparse, but there was definitely some nerd naming going on.

We voted for June's trail of the month - it was awarded to the Bampton hash, laid by Boots.

On On to next week, when its Woody's trail, from the bridge over the A30 (Venbridge Hill) near Cheriton Bishop. Map is here, or use the postcode EX6 6JU.
