Uphams Plantation - Spocky - 23 Feb 2020

Good turnout today with some visitors and returning hashers. A very clever trail which is the norm for this hare (how he has not won "hare of the year" is beyond me!). 2 long/short splits before the sweetie stop were timed to perfection. The ruggedly good-looking considerate hare also put the sweetie stop in a  sheltered camp that he obviously made earlier! After the generous amount of sweets we were off on our way onto another cleverly laid long/short split. Walkers were sent on back to the car park as the rest ran through the model aircraft field to the one and only fishhook that was perfectly placed. Across the road through the woods to one clever backcheck then on home! Everyone arriving back at the same time to prove that this hare knows how to lay a trail!! Took a while to organise the circle because of the amount of hashers thanking the hare for his  superb trail. Fines were given, beers and crisp were consumed. Onon till next week.

Alphington - Blobby - 9th February 2020

This was hash  # 973,
Amber weather warning for wind so it was a low turnout
Only the elite hashers turned up
Woodpecker was 10 minutes early, but looked like a flasher in his rain coat.
We set off a loomed around the residential area for a few minutes before we came to a regroup
We set off up the hill and saw the shear power of the wind
We had a split where there was a muddy route and a dry route, we all took the muddy rout.
Speedy showed off his masculinity by powering through the mud and getting soaked.
We then took a trip down fishhook hill, before reaching the sweet stop
Home made chocolate fudge at the sweet stop yum yum
We ran along the road for a bit longer before going under the busy road, where we became gangsters (see below). Woodpecker looked the part
Before long we back in Alphington
We ate the pizzas. Blobby had bough sausage rolls for Tampa - but there was no Tampa!
Quote of the week goes to Twin Peaks – context; we where talking about what LGBTQ+ means, and Twin peaks said “,you can shove what ever you want on nowerdays.”

Next week we're at Frying Pans Car Park on Woodbury Common (map).
And there's one more week to vote for January's Hash of the Month - and make it a finalist for the Annual award. See here.

Pinhoe - Splat and family - 2nd Feb 2020

Words by Speedy this week.

Run number 972

A warm winters day.  We crossed the trainline and ran through Pinhoe until we reached one of the new building sites.  We ran through the fields where Rocky decided to shortcut to avoid the fishhooks, and then realised he went the wrong way.   Long short split where we discussed what a 'back check' meant (Woof Woof).  Then we arrived at the regroup where we where told it was not far until the sweet stop

We then arrived at the sweet stop where Son Of The Bits was keen to tell us that he took a massive shortcut. But no dogs in the park. Hash flash on the wobbling new climbing frame

Another long short split,  The we came to the final regroup we where told that there was a dangerous slippery bridge ahead (it wasn't dangerous or slippy)

Quotes of the week “all you need to do is give it a blow” from X-bits", and "Spockys beard looks like a bush,” Wide Receiver

Fines went to Stix for needing the toilet (and sitting down on the hash), Rocky for shortcutting and avoiding fishhooks, Bollards for technology and the 2 above quotes.
Next week we're at at Blobby's House at Westcombe in Alphington (map).

This year, we're going to vote for Hash of the Month again - but we'll do it online.  Clear here to vote.
